In Rowan class, learning is engaging, creative and challenging allowing the children to reach their full potential.
Children are using more advanced sentence structures and grammatical skills linked to enriched and engaging whole class texts. Learning is differentiated per year group with Year 4's learning and applying different skills from their year group's national curriculum to the Year 5's. Children write for meaning and publish their work in many different ways including the creative use of ICT. Teaching consists of split inputs to ensure differentiation between the year group skills. Children in Rowan Class are always engaged in their writing and produce greater depth work of an extremely high quality.
In maths, all children access a self-led challenge approach. This allows our children to take control and become leaders in their own learning. Children access each mathematical concept in a variety of different ways to aid their fluency, then reason with this concept by explaining mistakes and proving they're right! Children in Rowan class are fantastic problem solvers, showing focus and determination to work through a problem of many parts.
The provision approach to learning from KS1 continues into KS2 with our Big idea approach, where children choose their own challenges based on team work, problem solving and other foundation subject skills, then work in focus groups with Miss Spencer. Children really love their learning, where classrooms feel buzzy, engaging and vibrant.
